"The same people that answer the phones also sweep the floors, do the books, and install the parts.
We are an independent local shop in the heart of South Austin, offering honest prices and the best service in our industry."
Krawltex was founded in 2006 by some of the keymost members of the Austin four wheeling community.
Cameron Chin, AKA: Cam - cam@krawltex.com

Having worked in the automotive industry for more then ten years with special
focus on performance modifications, makes Cam a valuable part of the team.
My name is Cameron Chin and I’m one of the proud owners ok Krawltex Motorsports. My automotive experiences began over ten years ago when I began an apprenticeship at Houston Mustangs (the install shop for John’s Mustang Parts) doing everything from maintenance repairs to frame off restorations on the 65-73 Stangs. Those were different times. I was driving a 67 fastback through most of high school!
In the fall of 1998, I began my on and off again career at the University of Texas. Will Greene and Hal Frost (who you may know from UROC competitions), got together and the three of us founded the Longhorn Offroad Club. It’s still going strong and has even been featured in FOURWHEELER Magazine (June 03 issue)!
I worked with Jeff Davis at Performance Unlimited for nearly two years. We built a loyal crowd of gear heads and wheelers. Performance Unlimited specialized in all aspects of automotive customization. From turbo tuners and full out drag cars, to fuel injected motor swaps and custom fabricated off road suspensions… we pretty much did it all. With the tech crash and all the “Dell-ionaires” going belly up, the economy in Austin was no longer conducive to the high overhead of a small start up business like this. Reluctantly, the doors closed and I went back to school. Four years later, I finally graduated from UT with a BA in Studio Art.
Now, I’m living the dream; wrenching on some of the coolest 4x4’s in Texas and wheeling with my friends on the weekends!

Akamu Whatley, AKA: AK - AK@krawltex.com
Many of you have seen the u-tube footage of AK doing a summer-salt in his 97 TJ during the King of the Canyons October 2009 Event. Who knew that this close brush with disaster would lead to a 10 day reincarnation resulting in a promod buggy? We finished the buggy and left Austin at 3AM, rolled through tech inspection at 8AM, and did the shake down with the first of five heats. To top the impossible, only a truly dedicated team would campaign an untested race vehicle to a dominating first place win at the Spring Creek Race N Rock Rampage 2009 Event.
With a winning recipe like this, it is no wonder AK left his sales position at Apogee Research and became an asset to the Krawltex team. With over a decade of off road camaraderie in the local four wheel community, most central Texans are bound to have met him out on the trails. AK is not only a part of our sales and marketing team, but also a budding fabricator who has quickly become the most intimate with our Torchmate plasma table. Piloting the Krawltex Juggernaut pro-mod buggy, watch for the beginning of his rock racing career.
Ted Morris - Ted@krawltex.com
Ted has been a part of the Krawltex team since 2007. He spent two years apprenticing and eventually becoming shop foreman of the auto garage for Harbison Automotive, a franchise comprised of five dealerships. Bringing a wide mechanical knowledge to the mix, Ted has quickly become a rising star of our company. Along with his growing fabrication skills, Mr. Morris is also the lead technician at Krawltex. From welding to diagnostics and even a/c repair, Ted has got you covered.
We work very hard at the shop so we can play harder on the trails. As part of Bombshell Racing, Ted's mechanical skills are invaluable during prep, maintenance, and out in the desert. He has had seat time training and co-driving in several races and many more to come. Since his time at the shop, Ted has also built up a fairly competitive "stock" class 1991 YJ, winning first place in the King of the Canyons October 2009 Event in Fredricksburg, and fourth place in the Spring Creek Race N Rock Rampage November 2009 Event. Keep up the great work Ted!
